Hands Free Devices

Cell Phone Hands Free Device

Some or most states are now making it illegal to talk on your cell phone without a hands free device. It is only a matter of time before each state makes up legislation requiring you use a hands free device while driving your car.

New Jersey is the latest state to pass the law making it illegal to use a cell phone when driving without a hands free device.

It just makes sense to use a hands free kit or headset when driving your car. Technically you can get a ticket for not using a hands free kit in every state since you don't have both hands on the steering wheel at all times you can get a reckless driving ticket.

Cell Phone Headsets

As much as you don't like the idea of talking and driving, the hands free device for cell phones might be the greatest invention for the first decade of the new century.

In some states they will pull you over and issue a ticket for not using a hands free device on your cell phone. Now if you think about it they never give you just one ticket its always a bunch like no seat belt or broken taillight, heck they can even give you one for smoking in your car. I will bet you didn't know that one. If you are smoking and driving they can claim that you are reckless driving since you don't have both hands on the wheel.

The best way to find a cell phone hands free device is to find out the make and model number of your cell phone and go to the manufacturers site. See how much they want and write down the hands free device they recommend for your model  phone. Do a search on the internet for that model number and you are sure to save a few dollars as the manufacturers web site is usually over priced on these headsets.

You can also upgrade your cell phone to some of the newer models that feature something called driving mode. The LG vx4500 from Verizon has this feature.

You may also want to get yourself a Bluetooth enabled phone and have a wireless head piece. These also work great in the car.
