Japan cell phone
In Japan they have been using
camera
phones for years, Both of these features are very new to the North
American market. They use mobiltv to watch television on their cell phone
in Japan now way before we see it in the U.S.A Right now the newest technology that is being used in Japan is a cell
phone with a built in television and also cell phones that send live video most people in North America have never
even heard of such a thing.
UPDATE: 4/1/2006 Streaming video and similar like services are
available from Verizon (Vcast).
Most American phones don't work overseas, except for some Nextel phones and
global or world GSM handsets, specially designed to work worldwide. In addition to that, global roaming fees are usually very frightening - for example, using your phone in
France can easily cost you a dollar a minute or more. Yet, global roaming may be a feature of interest for you if you travel a lot and plan to use your phone overseas occasionally.
Ring tones were also introduced to the Japanese market way before the
North American market. It seems that the cell phone companies use the
Japan market to test their products before making the available to North
America. Right now they are testing a cell phone in Japan that will
broadcast live television shows.
