Prepaid Cell phone

Choosing a prepaid Cell phone Plan

First off let me tell you that if you plan to use a lot of talk time this service is not really a good choice. You will go over your minutes and your cell phone will shut off just when you really need it.

Here is how it works You pay in advance for minutes and get a few features like voice mail and text messaging.

Most stores like radio shack or best buy have these types of prepaid cell phones. If prepaid isn't for you you can see our reviews of other cell phone calling plans

Cell phone credit checks

For most pre paid cell phones there are no credit checks and often no activation fees. Sometimes you don't even have to give your full name. When your minutes are up, you buy more or don't and you are free to quit at any time.

To start a prepaid service, you'll have to buy a phone from the wireless carrier you want to use. Then you fill them with codes found on the back of airtime cards, just like the prepaid long-distance phone cards that are sold in convenience stores.

There are a few companies offering this service Tracfone, Boost mobile and Verizon. This service really needs to be looked into for each company has different fee's and services. Only uses I can see for this is if you are a college student and cant afford a monthly plan and want to save money on long distance calls to home, or maybe an emergency phone for an elderly parent or loved one or if you are not going to use the phone that much.

If you plan on traveling and don't have a cell phone maybe a prepaid cell phone is the way to go. You can get one for the week or month while you are on vacation then just turn the phone in when you are done. There are many companies on the internet that have these type of cell phone plans.

If you feel that a prepaid cell phone isn't for you maybe the next best thing would be a phone card. Very good idea if you are going to use your cell phone to call international.
