Cell Phone Ringback Tones

Cell Phone Ringbacks

What are ringback tones and how do I get one. That is one of the most popular questions in the wireless world. Ringback tones are going to be the next big thing when it comes to cell phones. What is a ringback tone? It is simply the sound that people will hear when they dial your cell number instead of the usual dialing noise.

That's right you can control what others hear when they call you. Verizon is the first cell phone company that is going to have this service.

It will probably be part of their "Get it now" service just like ringtones are now.

T-Mobile and Verizon wireless

The reason that I think ringback tones will be huge is that you can actually control what other people hear. It puts you in control in a weird sense. That is the reason why most people will pay for something that they themselves will never hear.

Don't you hate that co-workers voice mail message when you call him where he rattles on for three minutes before you can leave a message for him. Now you can get even by making him listen to a William Hung song as he waits for you to answer your cell phone. With a wireless phone that has caller ID you will know who it is that is calling and wait until the third or fourth ring before you answer. That will get you even with him.

The possibilities are sure to be numerous as more and more companies catch on to the next big thing. (updated 12/8/04) T-Mobile has just announced that they will have ringback tones but they will be called Callertunes. It is probably the same type of personalized ringback tones that the Verizon service has now.

So how do you get free ringback tones? That is very hard to get as ringbacks are very new. I am sure you can search on a major search engine and find some though. It also depends on what type of phone you have and what wireless carrier you use.
