VZ Navigator

Using VZ Navigator on Your Cell Phone

Once again Verizon has upgraded a feature that can help you when you are traveling to a strange place. It is called VZ Navigator and it is only available to Verizon subscribers that use their Get It Now service. It is really handy to see maps and driving directions right on your cell phone. Of course this feature comes with a price tag of $9.99 a month or you can access it for a per day charge of $2.99. Not a bad price to pay if you are bad at following directions or find yourself always getting lost.

As of this writing you can't get the VZ Navigator on all phones but Verizon is aware of that and I am sure in no time all Verizon cell phones will have this cool feature. There are some things that you can see in real time as you are using this like landmarks, restaurants and even where you can find an ATM. That could very easily come in handy if you are staying out of town or are away on vacation. This GPS positioning device tells you where you are at and what is nearby which is good if you are looking for a place to eat or you need to stop to use a restroom.

I am sure that all cell phone providers will have a feature similar to this as they upgrade their phones to handle GPS as it is becoming the standard and the norm for all things. I like to think of it as a safety precaution as it can help with your location if you need to call 911 for an emergency. Since the phone has to be 911 enabled for the cell phone to work.

If you have a Verizon phone and you want to get this you must turn on 911. You can do this on most phones by going to the MENU and select settings then system and turn on location. This enables 911 on your cell phone for tracking purposes. Your cell phone may have this on already by default.

Go back to your main screen and press the Get It Now button and choose GetGoing. Click the button for Get New click on Travel and guides and select the VzNavigator this will start the download and you will see it when you launch your get It now on your phone from now on.

I really like the audio turn by turn directions which is good because you don't have to look at the phone while driving. That could be a dangerous thing and could cause you to have an accident. Speaking of which you should have a hands free device while driving anyway.

I just want to remind you also that using this service also counts against your airtime so be careful with the usage as it adds up rather quickly and no one likes to be over their cell phone minutes.
